After waving an emotional bye to the sweet town of Granada , we were on our way to our next stop which was Seville. Flamboyance has become so synonymous with Seville; we could feel it much before we set a foot in the city. Talk about preceding reputations. Upon checking in into our hotel, almost instantly we head out to and went to the centro, where . The Setas or the infamous mushroom of Seville that sits in the middle of the city, looked beautiful with the setting sun. It was orange in the evening and dark purple about ten minutes later, as the sun set over the horizon. Later in the evening, we made our way to the riverside area and and crossed over a gorgeous 19th century bridge called Puente de Isabel to the colorful area of Triana. After walking through Triana we got back to the centro area and visited the setas, which was now lit up; the rooftop has the most magical views of the astronomically pretty city. The illuminated city shimmered like it was draped in gold. So stunning. There are innumerable restaurants near setas and they are all exquisite. Fancy a mochi !

The following day, we went to the port city of Cadiz for a day trip. The city is best described as being very compact and vibrant and mighty on the cultural quotient. As with any city in Spain, this place too, was best discovered on foot. Such a walkable town with incredible views of the ocean, from almost every corner. We had the best pizza of our trip here.
Cadiz is apparently the oldest city still standing in Europe with its roots going into the BC era. Oh yeah, it is soaked deep in mythology. The walls, the watch towers, the distinctive yellow golden dome of the Santa Cruz cathedral, the exquisite gardens, the ocean, the views, the culture, the history, the beach, the food; such charm stalked up in such a compact place; it comprehensively embodies the Spanish spirit, yet it remains as one of the most underrated places in the region.

It was one of the best day trips we have ever had. So fulfilling. We headed back to Seville and ended our day at the gorgeous Plaza de Espanga – it is one of the prettiest semi circled blocks you would see. The tile work here is exquisite and the canal, fountains, the gardens, the boulevards; each and every detail remarkable. Our time in Granada has eaten over our time herein Seville and this was now coming to bite us – how we needed one more day in Seville.

The following morning we hit the road early; back to Madrid for our return flight home .

Our time in Spain was surreal. It was difficult coming to terms with the fact that our Spanish holiday which seemed to be on a continuous loop, was coming to an end. It felt like it would never end or rather we never wanted it to. Spain is such a wholesome travel destination; its spirit, is difficult to part with. The magic never ceases to amaze. It’s like a drum beat that keeps on reverberating endlessly, relentlessly.
Thank you for the memories !
